As a Network Engineer Support in our Statewide Network Services team at eHealth NSW, you will help make a real difference in healthcare by supporting the operation, stability and performance of network services across NSW Health.
This role provides broad technical support across Routing, Switching, Wireless, Firewall and hybrid connectivity environments, with exposure to Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto, AWS, Microsoft Azure and other enterprise network and cloud platforms. You will work closely with Senior Network Engineers, Principal Engineers, LHDs, the Service Desk and other technical teams to triage network issues, support operational activities and ensure network services continue to meet customer needs and organisational goals.
In this role, you will:
- Provide network support across Routing, Switching, Wireless, Firewall and hybrid connectivity services.
- Perform initial troubleshooting for incidents, service requests and operational issues, escalating complex matters to Senior Network Engineers when required.
- Support network changes including configuration updates, maintenance activities, upgrades, patching and implementation tasks under agreed processes.
- Collaborate with technical teams including Senior Engineers, Principal Engineers, LHDs, vendors and the Service Desk to support service restoration and operational outcomes.
- Monitor network performance by reviewing alerts, trends, utilisation and service impacts, escalating risks and recurring issues for further investigation.
- Maintain operational documentation including configuration records, implementation notes, troubleshooting steps, support procedures and knowledge articles.
- Contribute to service improvement through better documentation, knowledge sharing, process consistency and practical support for the broader network support environment.

About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Brings practical experience supporting enterprise network environments across Routing, Switching, Wireless, Firewall or related infrastructure domains.
- Has working knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto, AWS, Azure or similar enterprise, cloud and network platforms.
- Understands core network technologies across VLANs, STP, RSTP, MST, LACP, VRF, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, QoS, WLAN, NAC, 802.1X, VPN, IPSec, NGFW, Firewall Policy, DNS, DHCP, Proxy, Load Balancing, Cloud connectivity and virtual networking.
- Performs effective triage by checking symptoms, logs, alerts, configurations and known issues before escalating to senior technical teams.
- Follows operational processes across incident management, change management, configuration updates, monitoring, documentation and security practices.
- Uses automation fundamentals including scripts, templates, API based checks, Ansible, Python or similar tools to support repeatable operational tasks.
- Communicates clearly with customers, vendors, Service Desk teams and technical specialists when explaining issues, progress and next steps.
- Builds technical capability by learning from Senior Engineers, sharing knowledge and contributing to a constructive engineering culture across eHealth NSW teams and NSW Health Entities.
