They facilitate exploration of attachment styles, past and present parent-attachment and impact on mother-baby, father-baby and parent-parent relationships. They also explore maternal reflective functioning and capacity to ‘keep their baby in mind’. They may facilitate nurse-family- interaction role modelling to explore parenting capacity for change. They explore realistic expectations of parental change capacity, maintaining professional engagement and boundaries and fostering parenting confidence and self-efficacy.
The role also supports parent education and coaching group programs aimed at optimising family wellbeing and attachment.

- Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build therapeutic relationships with parents and caregivers. Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing client needs and priorities.
