Consultation Liaison (CL) Psychiatry uses evidence-based multi-disciplinary mental health expertise to support both patients and health care providers when mental health challenges affect medical care. This position is primarily based at John Hunter Hospital but is part of a team that sits across Belmont Hospital, John Hunter Hospital and Maitland Hospital.
About the role:
The Senior Clinical Psychologist role in the CL team provides a dynamic combination of inpatient assessments and brief psychological interventions and outpatient therapy (short to medium term) for patients of the hospital. You will have a great mix of autonomy and teamwork and get to build relationships with medical and surgical teams and patient groups. You will also be contributing to staff wellbeing by working closely with various professional groups in supporting them to deliver complex and at times emotionally challenging clinical care.
You will also be involved in Liaison roles with various services including Cystic Fibrosis, Young People’s Diabetic Team, cardiac and pulmonary rehab, perioperative and post stroke services.
This position is supported by a Clinical Director, the Head of Psychology and a Service Manager. You will have regular access to Clinical Supervision and professional development based on your professional development goals.
About you:
We are looking for a senior clinical/health psychologist who is passionate about delivering evidence based psychological care to individuals with comorbid psychiatric and medical concerns in a general hospital setting. You will enjoy working in an innovative and dynamic setting where you have variety; are challenged and work alongside a great team.
Requirements:
- Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, displayed on the Psychology Board of Australia website.
