What you'll be doing
The Network Nutrition Support Dietitian is responsible for the development, implementation and review of clinical food service systems across the Sydney Children’s Hospital’s Network to achieve excellence in food service provision, education, research and patient care. 

The position facilitates and supports integration of food services at the facility level around provision of high quality, clinically safe and accurate food services. The position takes a lead role in food service policy and standard development in relation to clinical paediatric food service management across Sydney Children’s Hospital’s Network in partnership with food service providers.  

The Network Nutrition Support Dietitian will apply expert knowledge and skills in clinical food service design to ensure the highest clinical standard is delivered that meets the complex nutritional requirements of paediatric inpatients and outpatients attending tertiary paediatric health care settings. The dietitian will provide consultation in the specialty of clinical food services to other health professionals across the area, geographical region or clinical network both within and beyond the Sydney Children’s Hospital’s Network. 

The Network Nutrition Support Dietitian will work within the Nutrition and Dietetic Departments at both The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick and have links with Bear Cottage. The Nutrition and Dietetic Departments aim to work in partnership to advocate for optimised nutrition for children through evidence based clinical care, education, research and leadership. We specialise in addressing the unique nutritional needs of children from neonates to adolescents, across a range of clinical domains. Our primary aim is to optimise the growth and nutritional status of all children with chronic and complex medical conditions.

This position provides an opportunity to assist in lead innovative change for paediatric food services including the review and evaluation of the change on patient health outcomes.

The Managers of Nutrition and Dietetics Department at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Childrens Hospital at Randwick will guide the Network Nutrition Support Dietitian in their role as they balance current Network needs and priorities across sites. 
  1. Eligible for full membership of Dietitians Australia
  2. Extensive post graduate clinical food service knowledge and/or experience in the translation of complex therapeutic nutrition management to the food service environment
  3. Demonstrated understanding of food safety principles in a high risk food service setting
  4. Demonstrated experience in leading and implementing quality improvement projects and a commitment to improving clinical outcomes through food change initiatives
  5. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
  6. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning
