The Role
The Safeguards Manager is primarily responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Adolescent Forensic Mental Health Safeguards Service – a multidisciplinary response for young people with complex mental health needs and their families in crisis.  The Safeguards service falls under the remit of Adolescent Forensic Mental Health Services within Forensic Mental Health directorate.  Safeguards is a community outreach service  that provides mental health care to young people with complex needs in partnership with multi-agencies to improve outcomes for young people in contact with the criminal justice system.  The aim of the service is to provide diagnostic clarification and work with young people with complex needs in crisis that are falling through service gaps.  It provides evidence-based assessment and treatment for mental health, drug and alcohol and neurodiverse issues. The Safeguards Manager oversee and support the multidisciplinary team, with the potential to manage a small clinical caseload and offer clinical consultation as needed.
 
This role will be required to support Safeguards Clinicians in the delivery of specialist adolescent forensic mental health care, which takes into account peoples' clinical, psychosocial, behavioural and risk-related needs while applying evidence informed clinical tools. The role may also require skills in strategic planning, data collection, budgeting, program evaluation and proven management experience at a senior level.
 
The Safeguards Manager will work in partnership with the Local Health Districts, primary health networks, Department of Community and Justice and other government and non-government organisations (NGOs) across NSW to ensure best outcomes for young people and their families.
