At the new Maitland Hospital, you will be a part of the dynamic Surgical Ward (3A) team delivering exceptional, patient-centred care across specialties including general surgery, urology, gynaecology, women’s health and colorectal. Known for their strong teamwork and collaborative approach, this team partners closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic care to every patient. You’ll be supported by experienced, approachable surgical nurses, with guidance from our Nurse Unit Manager, CNE team and Clinical Nurse Specialists to help you learn, grow and thrive in a fast-paced acute environment. What You Will Be Doing

In this role, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to surgical patients, managing both pre and post-operative needs in a busy acute setting. Your responsibilities will include venepuncture and intravenous cannulation, wound and drain management, care of indwelling devices, nasogastric tube management, TPN and medication administration, as well as supporting patients with their activities of daily living. You will be well supported in your practice by the Nurse Unit Manager, team leaders, and dedicated ward and after-hours educators, ensuring you have the guidance and resources needed to provide safe, effective care.

 

About You

  •  Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic with compassion, honesty, and integrity in all aspects of care.

  • Committed to delivering patient-centred care with professionalism and accountability.

  • Surgical nursing experience is highly desirable however we welcome motivated nurses eager to learn and develop their skills.
