About the role:

This role will see you provide screening and assessment mammography to the women in our community. You will work from our fixed site in Tamworth, as well as on our mobile vans, providing you the opportunity to travel and work in rural areas across Hunter New England to ensure equitable access to all women. 

We take pride in our ability to provide high quality imaging and excellence in all aspects of BreastScreen. The team in Tamworth are involved across all screening and assessment modalities and multidisciplinary meetings. Located midway between Sydney and Brisbane, along the New England Highway, we are only 3.5hrs Northwest of our BreastScreen Waratah team and their ongoing support.

To aid your success in this role, support and orientation will be provided by the Chief Radiographer and the entire team. Training and opportunity for further education will be available and encouraged for the right candidate. We have dedicated tutors who run in-house training programs and will provide ongoing support.

This position can be filled by a Level 2 or Level 3 Radiographer, or Mammography Practitioner. Level 2 Radiographers will be given the opportunity to progress by attaining a Certificate in Mammographic Practice. New Graduates will also be considered for the position.

About you:

We are looking for an empathetic and client-focused Radiographer / Mammographer who will enjoy working as part of a cohesive and highly skilled multidisciplinary team. You must have a qualification as a radiographer or Mammography Practitioner, but we are prepared to train the right candidate in mammography if necessary. Opportunity is provided to progress by working towards a Certificate of Mammographic Practice. Working away on the mobile van is a requirement but we will work with you regarding your availability to do so. You must be dedicated to the program and like to work as part of a team.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be female – exemption claimed under section 31 (2)(h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act
  • Relevant qualifications in Medical Radiation Science or equivalent/Graduate Diploma of Mammography/ Certificate of Mammographic Practice (CMP) or willingness to complete
  • Registered as a Medical Radiation Practitioner – Diagnostic Radiographer (General or Mammography registration) with the Medical radiation Practice Board of Australia where required
  • Hold a current EPA IA 14M/ IA 14  radiation licence
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence
  • Available to work away on mobile screening vans for up to 6 days at a time.

  • To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable local candidate is identified for the position; in this instance, you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
