Sydney Local Health District is seeking a highly motivated Provisional Fellow to join the Neonatal ICU team at RPA Hospital.
What you will be doing:
This position is open to qualified candidates enrolled in advanced training in neonatal/perinatal medicine. This position would ideally be suited to neonatal trainees looking to solidify key components of their training pathway, particularly developmental follow up, research and teaching.
You will be Involved in providing a high level of acute clinical inpatient care, as well as a fellow led outpatient clinical service, under the supervision of a highly engaged group of neonatologists.
The neonatal fellow program at RPA has been refined and developed over many decades. The program aims to support enthusiastic and dedicated trainees through a 12-24 month learning pathway, which encompasses perinatal knowledge and clinical skills, a developmental term, ultrasound teaching as well as opportunities to develop research ideas and teaching skills.
The Department of Newborn Care- Neonatal ICU and Special Care Unit
The Department of Newborn Care has an international reputation for excellence in delivery of clinical care, research, and teaching. With over 5000 deliveries / year in Sydney Local Health District, the department supports local deliveries, a high risk obstetric and fetal-maternal service, as well as acting as a NSW state-wide referral service for newborns requiring neonatal ICU. The department has 35 beds, and admits approximately 1000 admissions annually.

Royal Prince Alfred is the principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and offers speciality services from its main campus from Camperdown in the heart of Sydney Australia.
RPAH is also one of Australia's leading quaternary referral hospitals, providing an extensive range of diagnostic and treatment services. Its specialities include cardiothoracic/ adult ECMO, high risk obstetrics and gynaecology, surgical oncology, colorectal, liver and kidney transplants.

- Registered for advanced training in Neonatology with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
- At least 12 months experience as an advanced trainee/ provisional fellow in a Neonatal Intensive Care unit.
- Evidence of developed skills in all procedures used in neonatal intensive care.
- Ability to make independent clinical decisions within the limits of ability and to know when to consult for advice.
- Excellent communication skills with colleagues and families and have a good track record of working well within a team.
- An interest and an ability to perform independent research, and demonstrate an understanding of good teaching methods and a commitment to instruction and supervision of Junior Medical and other clinical staff.
