The Pain Management Unit at St George offers a wide range of experience for those completing their pain management training. There is regular exposure to many different pain presentations; acute, chronic and cancer. Our unit works closely with the Palliative Care Unit within the hospital and the local Hospice. As a Trauma Hospital there is the opportunity for increasing procedural experience as well as working with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes. Pain Management programmes are run regularly, and fellows are encouraged to participate in their delivery and formulation.
Applicants must have completed the core training stage within the Faculty of Pain Medicine.

St George Hospital and Health Services is an accredited, principal teaching hospital of the University of New South Wales. It is the largest hospital within South Eastern Sydney Local Health District with 627 inpatient beds. St George Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Centre and a leading centre for trauma and emergency management in NSW. The hospital’s proximity to Sydney airport makes it a vital service providing first response to the airport precinct.

Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with Medical Board of Australia in appropriate registration category.
- Completed fellowship training in applicant’s primary specialty.
- Completed Core Training Stage Faculty of Pain Medicine.
- Demonstrated advanced ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care.
- Demonstrated experience in pain research and evidence if able of current research undertakings or scientific publications.
- Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and post graduate medical teaching.
