The Royal Hospital for Women has been one of Australia’s foremost specialist hospitals for women and babies since its early beginnings as New South Wales first "lying-in" hospital for women in 1820. As a principal teaching hospital of the University of NSW in the fields of obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatology the Royal has a history of innovation in women’s health care services, teaching and research.

The hospital is committed to the provision of excellence in health care for women as well as continued research into how to best provide that care.

The main areas of specialisation include breast care, gynaecology, gynaecological oncology, maternity, maternal-fetal medicine, menopause, newborn intensive care and reproductive medicine. 

Each year the Hospital delivers up to 3,000 babies; cares for more than 600 premature babies; performs more than 3000 surgical procedures and has over 2000 visits through our Early Pregnancy Assessment Service (EPAS).

The primary purpose of the position is to provide quality advanced training in reproductive medicine and infertility in a complex clinical environment, whilst developing higher professional maturity and professionalism. The Provisional Fellow will, under an appropriate level of supervision by senior staff as approved by the RANZCOG, evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to female patients and their partners, presenting with problems relating to the subspeciality of reproductive medicine and infertility.  
  1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
  2. Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including providing leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise
  4. Demonstrated time management and problem solving skills
  5. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
  7. Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self education.
  8. Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
