About this role

You'll be joining the largest public health system in Australia to contribute to a world-class health system in NSW.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for a motivated and collaborative individual to work on strategic reform and health funding. The role engages with a broad range of health and government stakeholders to support intergovernmental activity including health reform and negotiating funding agreements with the Commonwealth. 

You will work as part of a small, dynamic team to advise on health policy, governance and intergovernmental matters. This includes engaging with subject matter experts across NSW Health and government, research and evaluating information, and delivering high quality and timely briefings to the Minister’s office and Health Executive to support decision making and negotiation. A successful candidate in this position will demonstrate strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to analyse complex information, engage and manage stakeholders effectively, and write clearly for various audiences.

Crown Clerk 7/8, starting salary from $110,266 - $122,058 p.a. plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.

What you'll be doing 

The Policy and Funding Reform (PFR), and Intergovernmental Liaison (ILT) Team within the Government Relations, Strategy and Violence Prevention Branch are responsible for stewarding reform efforts with the Commonwealth and other States and Territories, developing innovative policy and system reforms, and securing funding for NSW. 

This includes leading engagement with other jurisdictions, NSW central agencies and national funding bodies on complex intergovernmental issues and links relevant areas across NSW Health to support this work. In addition, the team supports the Health Minister and Health Executive to effectively position NSW on priority health issues at the Health Ministers’ Meetings (HMM) and the Health Chief Executive Forum (HCEF).

As the Policy Officer in the National Policy Reform workstream, you will provide advice on key health reform issues including the  the National Health Reform Agreement (NHRA), pharmaceutical reform, Federal Funding Agreements for national health initiatives, and relevant reforms in other sectors including aged care and disability.
