This position is based in the Physiotherapy department at The Children's Hospital at Westmead and works closely with rehabilitation and orthopaedic clinicians. The role includes pre and post-op management of children with cerebral palsy undergoing orthopaedic procedures.

What you'll be doing

This position is currently involved in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with cerebral palsy (and other similar conditions) pre and post orthopaedic surgery, both as inpatients and outpatients. The physiotherapist will also provide physiotherapy services to Turner Care by Parent Ward. They will work in consultation with the senior physiotherapists of the relevant areas. The physiotherapist will provide clinical services to inpatients and/or outpatients as determined by the particular role. The physiotherapist will provide evidence based care within a multidisciplinary and family centred context, and utilise holistic physiotherapy models of care. Participation is required in ongoing education, teaching, evidence based practice and quality improvement activities. The Level 3 Physiotherapist will contribute at an advanced level to: 

  • Planning, development and evaluation of physiotherapy services.
  • Development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures and practice guidelines for patient care.
     
  • Liaison with community based services relevant to the patient population.

Whilst this role is currently working in the ROCS service the actual workload and structure of the position may change in future to align with the overall structure of the Physiotherapy Department. 

About You
We’re looking for someone who:

  • Recognised qualification in Physiotherapy and current Australian Physiotherapy registration with AHPRA.
  • Extensive post graduate experience relevant to the position including casting experience.
  • Postgraduate experience working with children with cerebral palsy or similar neurological disorders.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills, (including negotiation and conflict resolution skills) and proven success in multidisciplinary team settings
