Are you an organised, compassionate, and team-oriented individual looking to make a meaningful impact in healthcare? Join the Surgical Services team at John Hunter Hospital, where you’ll play a vital role in supporting the efficient operation of our surgical and perioperative services.
As a Ward Clerk (Reliever), you will provide administrative and clerical support across our Surgical Services wards, including the Same Day Inpatient Beds Unit, and the Interventional Suite Preoperative Unit. You’ll be job sharing with our wonderful existing Ward Clerk, covering both planned and unplanned leave within the department.
This is a dynamic, fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You’ll be the friendly and professional face of the ward, helping to ensure smooth communication and coordination between patients, families, and clinical teams.
First Point of Contact: Respond to phone calls, emails, and patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
Family Support: Provide information and reassurance to patients’ families.
Patient Records Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient charts and documentation for scanning into the Clinical Information Department
Collaboration: Work closely with Nurse Unit Managers, clinicians, allied health professionals, and administrative colleagues.
Appointment Scheduling: Coordinate and arrange follow-up appointments for patients.

Demonstrated administrative and/or customer service experience (preferred but not essential).
