What you'll be doing
To demonstrate advanced reasoning skills and operate autonomously with minimum direct supervision, providing services to NDIS client groups and circumstances of a complex nature requiring advanced practice skills. To apply professional knowledge and judgement when performing novel, complex or critical tasks specific to the orthotic NDIS provider service.
Provide clinical support and current advice relevant to providing orthotic services under an NDIS funded model.
To plan, implement, evaluate and report on SCHN NDIS orthotic services. To identify opportunities for improvement in clinical practice, or systems relevant to the NDIS orthotic service and develop and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
Where relevant to provide extensive specialist orthotic care to patients of the Sydney Children's Hospital Network
- A minimum of bachelor’s degree in prosthetics and/or orthotics which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Orthotic and Prosthetic Association.
- Extensive post graduate orthotic experience. Advanced skills in all aspects of orthotic assessment and treatment for disability related orthotic care and evidence-based intervention/orthotic prescription.
- Recognised source of expert knowledge in orthotic provision, functioning as a clinical consultant with demonstrated advanced clinical reasoning skills and sound understanding of NDIA systems and requirements.
- Capacity to provide support and education to orthotic clinicians, students, technicians, and support staff.
- Documented involvement in planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting on services including development of clinical innovations and initiatives.
- Effective oral and written communication skills including the ability to develop patient resources in appropriate plain language.
