This opportunity is to join our Prince of Wales Orthoptic casual pool. Orthoptists in our casual pool, pending their availability may be called upon at short notice or may be rostered in advance to cover shift vacancies. Orthoptists work part of a multidisciplinary team in the Eye Clinic at Prince of Wales Hospital to provide orthoptic and ophthalmic care to outpatients and inpatients.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Must hold a Diploma or bachelor of Applied Science (Orthoptics), Masters in Orthoptics or equivalent with eligibility for registration with the Orthoptic Board of Australia.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the investigation and managment of adult and paediatric patients with strabismus and ocular motility disorders within commensurate years of experience.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and ability in ophthalmic assisting including perimetry, OCT, Pentacam, refraction, ocular Biometry
  4. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  5. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and ability to translate evidence into practice.
  6. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters, commensurate with years of experience.
