About the role:

This role will see you provide high level occupational therapy assessment and intervention to facilitate timely discharge from the Emergency Department, as well as early assessment and management for patients requiring admission to the hospital.  You will also provide clinical supervision and support to Level 1/2 therapists and will take a lead with student education.

The position is supported by the Site Senior OT at Maitland Hospital, the local OT team, and the wider Lower Hunter Occupational Therapy team. Comprehensive orientation and clinical supervision will also be provided.

About You:

We are looking for someone who has extensive hospital-based experience with a wide variety of clinical conditions, and an understanding of the community supports that are available to support discharge from the ED and the wider hospital.

You must be able to work autonomously as well as within a multidisciplinary team managing patients with complex care needs.  This role requires strong organisation skills and flexibility, as well as the ability to clinically prioritise within a high-volume caseload.

  • Occupational Therapist with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA
