About Us 

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a wonderful place to expand your career and grow your skills and knowledge. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we provide a range of public health services to the Nepean and Blue Mountains and Lithgow Region.  

 

The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).


The District's Nursing and Midwifery Workforce provides safe, compassionate, person-centred health care in collaboration with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams. The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is in-charge of all aspects of the unit/ward environment and takes responsibility for the standard of patient care in the unit/ward.

The position is pivotal to the co-ordination of patient/client care, unit/ward management and leadership to enable the delivery of safe, effective, quality nursing care and efficient use of resources. What you will bring to the role:

  1. Registered Nurse - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) AND extensive relevant post registration nursing experience.
  2. Demonstrated ability to create and support a culture of integrity and professionalism which adheres to legislation and policy.
  3. Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills and ability to liaise and negotiate with clinicians, managers, staff and other key stakeholders.
  4. Proven ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the unit/ward are managed to deliver safe and efficient health care within available resources.
  5. Excellent leadership skills and the ability to motivate, inspire and manage staff to achieve service and organizational goals utilising change management principles.
  6. Evidence of and commitment to patient/client/customer focused care, clinical governance and quality improvement.
  7. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.
  8. Current Driver’s License and ability to travel within the LHD as required.
