Who we are:

The Wagga Wagga CMHAOD team is the largest of six CMHAOD teams across Murrumbidgee LHD. The CMHAOD team has approximately 18 multidisciplinary clinicians and a range of additional staff including an Aboriginal Mental Health Trainee, Peer Worker, Support Worker and a Family and Carer Support Worker. We also have Psychiatrists who are part of our team and see consumers across clinics each week. Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol Services are provided across the life span from the Health Services Hub on the campus of the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.

We work closely with many community organisations including Medicare Mental Health, Grand Pacific Health, Headspace and Wellways, to ensure people receive the right care for their needs. At a district level we have access to clinical leaders for MH, AOD and other specialty services such as Aboriginal Mental Health, eating disorders and Perinatal Infant Mental Health.

 

What you’ll be doing:

The Mental Health Support Worker (MHSW) works within the Community Mental Health Team to support the team in providing mental health and social care to and for people experiencing mental illness and or drug and alcohol issues.

In this role, you will provide essential behind-the-scenes support to the Community Mental Health team. While you won’t be delivering clinical care or treatment, your contribution will help ensure the team operates smoothly and consumers are well-supported in accessing services.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Making phone calls to consumers, doctors, and other services to gather or relay information

  • Coordinating and setting up psychiatry and other health-related appointments

  • Assisting consumers to attend appointments, including transport support or reminders

  • Delivering food hampers and other practical supports

  • Providing general administrative support to the team

  • Participating in service support activities that enhance team operations

     

Employment type: Full Time, Part Time and Casual opportunities available
Position classification: Allied Health Assistant, Health Education officer Grad / Non-Grad
Remuneration: $53,399.55 – $108,229.00 per annum (+ super +17.5% leave loading where applicable)
Hours per week: Up to 38 hours per week

About You

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Relevant qualification in Health and/or Social Care

  • NSW Working with Children Check

  • Compliance with Vaccination Category A

  • Class C Driving License
