Exciting career opportunity available now in The Older Persons Mental Health Community Services (OPMHS) of Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD).

You will be working in the community with older adults experiencing mental health issues who may be living in their own homes, with family, or in Residential Aged Care Facilities. You will be providing recovery-oriented, person-centred biopsychosocial care planning and interventions, reflected in all aspects of your practice and service delivery.

You will have previous experience of working with older adults experiencing mental ill health in a community setting, including the provision of assessment, care planning and interventions which are evidence based.

Registered Nurse: $36.39 - $51.09
Allied Health Professional Level 1/2: $37.03 - $52.83
Psychologist: $39.01- $57.10

Brookvale Community Mental Health Service, Older People's Mental Health

What you'll be doing
The primary function of the OPMHS Mental Health Professional is to work collaboratively as part of the multi-disciplinary team in order to provide high quality, evidenced based clinical care to Older People presenting with complex mental health issues in collaboration with the consumer &their carer/s, the consumers General Practitioner, Aged Care Services, other medical professionals and Non-Government Organisations (where applicable). The OPMHS consumer cohort requires specific and specialist assessment and interventions associated with the complexity of their clinical presentations including the presence of co-morbidities such as physical health problems, drug and alcohol use / abuse and issues of ageing including Dementia and the Behavioural &Psychological Symptoms of Dementia.


People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APRHA) registration as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist or Occupational Therapist or eligibility for membership to the AASW. 
  2. Demonstrated skills in conducting comprehensive mental health assessment and management, including assessment, risk management and care coordination.
  3. Demonstrated experience working in Community Mental Health services and a demonstrated knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act (2007).
