To be eligible for this position you must be a graduate from an Australian or New Zealand AMC accredited medical school.

1. Have successfully completed a Medical Intern Recruitment Application online for a NSW intern position.
2. Meet eligibility and the NSW Health priority list criteria for medical graduate recruitment.
3. Be expected to complete your medical degree this year or have completed your degree in the past two years.
4. Have not previously worked as a doctor.

The Role
Tweed Valley Hospital is looking for Interns to work on a rotational basis across the annual 5 clinical terms. This provides our Intern medical officers with quality experience in a range of different medical and surgical specialities.
Preferences for rotations can be expressed at interview with final allocations confirmed following acceptance. Available rotations include:
· General Medicine
· General Surgery (including Colorectal, Upper GI and Breast Surgery)
· Surgical Subspecialty – Orthopaedics
· Emergency Department
· Renal
· Haematology & Oncology
· Geriatric Medicine
All positions including a relieving term which is a role covering after hours shifts and covering annual leave of other junior medical officers.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Tweed Valley Hospital, your primary work location and a new, major referral hospital at the heart of the network of hospitals and health facilities across the Tweed-Byron region, also including Murwillumbah District & Byron Central Hospitals. The 723.3 million state-of-the-art hospital opened on 14 May 2024 and will deliver additional health services and bed capacity to meet the growing community's healthcare needs.

• currently 280 beds with capability to expand to 430 beds
• expansive outpatient facilities with opportunity to increase available clinics
• a developing interventional cardiology service
• a fully capable emergency department with 42 treatment spaces

- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
- Demonstrates ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills (at the required level of competency), judgment and expertise
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and other members of the health care team
- Good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education
- For Rural Preferential Recruitment: Demonstrated interest in and commitment to the provision of quality healthcare in a rural setting
