About Us

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a wonderful place to expand your career and grow your skills and knowledge. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we provide a range of public health services to the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Region. 

 

NBMLHD’s Population Health Division is responsible for addressing primary and secondary disease prevention within the local community through Health Promotion, HIV and Related Programs Multicultural Health. Our work is delivered through individual service delivery, Population level health promotion programs and capacity building initiates to members of priority populations on priority issues.

 

An exciting opportunity is now available for a Health Education Officer Graduate to join the Population Health Division team. The focus for this position is Smoking/Vaping Prevention and Youth Health.


The successful candidate will contribute to the development, and lead the implementation, of projects to address local priorities and raise awareness of healthy lifestyles, disease and other health-related issues, in line with current Ministry of Health and Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District policies, strategic frameworks and key performance indicators. You will collaborate across services and functions to appropriately target health promotion messages and programs in relation to current areas of responsibility.

What you will bring to the role:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as health promotion, population health, or education and/or equivalent demonstrated experience
  2. Demonstrated ability to write high level and quality reports and other written communication for a variety of audiences.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with community, government and non-government organisations to achieve outcomes in health promotion.
  4. Demonstrated ability and experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based community education projects, including experience in developing and facilitating group work.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a team across multiple projects with the ability to apply effective interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  6. Excellent organisational, prioritisation, and time management skills.
  7. Valid unrestricted drivers' licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
