We are currently looking for a Health & Security Assistant with experience in security and great people skills to join our team.

The Health and Security Assistant is an important member of the multi-disciplinary team who will provide a local response to incidents, maintain general safety of the unit and interact with patients in a wide variety of situations and contexts. These include:
- Immediate response to critical incidents
- Escorting patients to other departments/appointments
- Assisting with the cleanliness of the unit
- Assist with daily unit activity program
- Ensure that daily environmental searches of the unit are being carried out.
- Testing and recording of duress alarms on a routine basis.
- Responsible for checking and maintaining equipment on the unit and ensuring it is in good working order.
- Also the potential to work in any of the Mental Health Inpatient Unit as required.
Experience in a health related field is highly desirable.

Rotating roster undertaken by working as part of a 12hr roster with the inclusion of weekends and public holidays with attractive penalty rates.

You will be working in MHICU, PECC and inpatient units within ESMHS, located on the Prince of Wales Hospital campus, Randwick.

Selection Criteria:
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.
- Demonstrated understanding of mental health issues and an ability to work within an acute mental health setting.
- Commitment to interact with patients and facilitate unit activities.
- Demonstrated ability to perform duties and tasks with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Good written/verbal skills and sound computer and keyboard skills.
- Current Class 1 C NSW drivers licence (unrestricted) and Current 1 A Security licence.
- Demonstrated experience in the security and or health industry and knowledge of duress alarm systems.
- Sound knowledge of WH&S issues and understanding of the requirement for strict confidentiality.
