About the role:
Join the FluTracking team and work on one of the largest online COVID-19 and Influenza-like illness surveillance system in the world. FluTracking follows over 80,000 people each week in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Argentina, and Fiji. We are seeking a Project Officer to join our Health Protection Team at Hunter New England Population Health, where we monitor health threats, respond to communicable disease risks, and promote policies and behaviours that improve public health. Tasks vary day to day, but typically involve those associated with participant engagement, team collaboration, and daily workflow management. 

This role will see you be responsible for:

  • Strengthening participant recruitment
  • Creating summary reports of disease activity
  • Responding to inquiries from participants and research partners
  • Supporting operational tasks
  • Contributing to existing research projects, and opportunities to develop independent research projects

 
To aid your success in this role, you will receive comprehensive onboarding and professional development through work with Australian and international influenza and participatory surveillance experts.. You will be trained in our operational processes, and will gain valuable experience developing your data analysis, project management and social media skills.


Where you’ll be working:
FluTracking is a small team that offers a collaborative environment within the broader Population Health unit. You'll have access to extensive resources and networks in the public health sector, engaging with national and international partners in respiratory illness surveillance. You will be supported by a manager, epidemiologist, public health physician, and analytical staff within the team.
