The role:
In the MACU, you'll be at the forefront of patient care, handling a diverse range of cases directly from the Emergency Department and covering all specialties within Medical and Interventional Services. With an increasing number of cardiology patients, you’ll gain additional invaluable hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment.
In this role, you'll manage patient flow and movement to maximise unit capacity and support the ED. With shifts spanning mornings, afternoons, and nights, you'll play an important role in ensuring seamless operations and delivering consistent, high-quality care. Join our dynamic team at John Hunter Hospital, where exciting changes are on the horizon. The Medical Assessment and Coordination Unit (MACU), a 24-bed unit specialising in short-term care for patients requiring observation, diagnostics, and interventions, is at the heart of this transformation.
In addition, we’re transitioning to Ward H3, which offers new learning spaces, including a modern tutorial room, enhanced education and professional development programs, and a welcoming tearoom for relaxation.
In 18 months, we’ll move to a state-of-the-art facility, further expanding opportunities for career growth. Our focus on patient flow and quality improvement ensures seamless transitions, while the upcoming $835 million redevelopment of the John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct promises cutting-edge healthcare services and exceptional growth opportunities.
