The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Alcohol and Other Drugs service offers free, non-judgmental services and treatments for drug and/or alcohol use, including information and support for families. Our service offers specialist drug and alcohol doctors, nurses and allied health staff who respect the client's right to choose from a range of treatments offered with our services underpinned by a philosophy of harm reduction.

Join a team where your compassion and clinical skills make a real difference. In the Drug and Alcohol Inpatient Withdrawal Management Unit at Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, you’ll support individuals through a critical stage of recovery in a safe, recovery-focused environment.

As a Registered Nurse, you will deliver person-centered, evidence-based care, including comprehensive assessment, withdrawal monitoring, IV medication administration, and close monitoring for physical deterioration. You will also provide emotional support and work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver care that reflects each patient’s goals and lived experience.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
  2. Demonstrated experience and clinical skill in Drug & Alcohol as a Registered Nurse (including Completion of a new graduate RN program or equivalent experience working as a Registered Nurse). Experience in acute care and Mental Health will also be considered
  3. Demonstrated excellent time management, organisational skills and ability to prioritise work
  4. Demonstrated evidence of being able to provide person centred care that is non-judgemental and empathetic in approach
  5. Demonstrated effective communication skills - written and verbal
  6. Demonstrated commitment to professional development
  7. Ability to work a flexible roster, day, evening or night shift across all days of the week according to the unit/service requirements
