Our district's Information Management team is seeking to engage District Relief Clinical Coders. The position provides relief to ensure Clinical Coding KPIs and deadlines are met at all facilities. The role provides the opportunity to travel across the different facilities of the local health district.
As a District Relief Clinical Coder, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely coding of inpatient episodes of care in accordance with the Australian coding standards and other relevant documents. Other responsibilities include maintaining ethical coding practice. When not providing relief, the successful incumbent will be required to participate and assist with clinical coding quality and educational activities. What you will bring to the role:
- Successful completion of a recognised clinical coding qualification with a minimum 12 months continuous coding experience across a broad range of clinical specialties, and proven competency for Clinical Coder as specified in the HIMAA Clinical Coder National Competency Standards and Assessment Guide
- Demonstrated ability to assist with quality improvement activities in relation to coded data utilising recognised continuous quality improvement principles
- Demonstrated experience in using computerised patient administrative systems
- Demonstrated positive attitude and the flexibility to maintain work standards and a service focus in a changing environment
- Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to assist with clinical coding quality activities and understand their relationship to Casemix, DRG classification systems and Activity Based Funding/Management Models
- Demonstrated ability to resolve clinical coding queries utilising sound judgement and initiative by interpreting relevant policies, procedures, and standards
- Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise own workload to ensure deadlines and KPIs are met
- A current NSW drivers licence, and be available and committed to travel to facilities within NBMLHD
