1. Must be a person of Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander descent who has a demonstrated ability to work with and earn the trust and respect of Aboriginal people, communities, and organisations.
2. Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience, including previous significant senior leadership / management experience in a substantial and complex organisation; having demonstrated an effective practical application of knowledge of the social, cultural, political and health issues affecting Aboriginal people, families, and their communities
3. The ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences and build relationships for collaboration and cooperation across the organization and with our key service partners.
4. An up-to-date understanding of the state and national health policies particularly those related to consumer and community participation in the planning and development of health services.
5. Demonstrated capacity to encourage and include diverse perspectives in the development of priorities, policies, and strategies; and demonstrated ability to lead the workforce in adoption and maintenance of culturally safe and respectful services and workplaces.
6. The ability to translate change initiatives and priorities into practical strategies which address emerging challenges and risks; and leading implementation of structural change management processes which identify and develop effective responses to cultural barriers.
7. An understanding of contemporary models of health service delivery and an up to date understanding of State and national health policies particularly those that relate to rural health services.
8. A current driver's licence.
