What you'll be doing
The Unit Head is responsible for the professional leadership, guidance and line management of a clinical unit with more than 5 and up to 10 staff.
 
The Unit Head is responsible for the provision of an effective clinical service within their clinical caseload. They will demonstrate advanced reasoning skills and will be responsible for providing a very high expert level consultancy to staff within the ISLHD.
 
This position will provide clinical supervision and support to level one to six clinical professionals, technical and support staff in relation to clinical standards of practice and service delivery.
 
This position will assist the ISLHD Head of Discipline in managing and directing the delivery of services, clinical redesign, human resources management and financial analysis.

This role is a Category A role. Preferred applicants will be reviewed for compliance and required to maintain compliance with the screening, assessment and vaccination requirements, relevant to your position, as outlined in NSW Health policy directive on Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases.

For positions designated as child-related employment, or positions that may result in proximity to children, you will be required to obtain a Working with Children clearance number from the Office of the Children’s Guardian.

 

To obtain a WWCC clearance number, follow the instructions on the website of Service NSW, which includes completing an online application form and then attending a Service NSW Centre or a NSW Council Agency that provides Road and Maritime Services, to provide proof of identity and pay for the WWCC to be completed. 

Please note that a volunteer WWCC (which is free) cannot be used for paid employment.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Eligible for membership in Dietitians Association of Australia.
  2. Extensive and current post graduate clinical experience.
  3. Experience and demonstrable competency in the operational coordination of staff within a team/unit.
  4. Excellent communication, organisation and negotiation skills.
  5. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead and coordinate quality improvement and/or research programs.
  6. Current NSW Class C (or equivalent) driver's licence and ability to work across all sites within the ISLHD.
