The Diabetes Educator position is based at Inverell Community Health and performs a vital role in delivering a comprehensive diabetes management service to Inverell and surrounding areas. 


Remuneration: $72,152.53 - $101,299.48 p.a. + Superannuation + Salary Packaging

As an experienced Diabetes Educator, you will provide individualised care and education for people living with different types of diabetes in both an outpatient and inpatient setting. On any given day, you will be undertaking assessments for type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, starting clients on insulin, and providing information and advice to newly diagnosed clients. This role operates within office hours Monday-Friday, however travel to different locations is to be expected.

You won’t be working alone. You’ll be part of a very cohesive team, working alongside other community health nurses and will be supported by the Nurse Unit Manager, Dietitian, and the Diabetes Nurse Practitioner.


As the preferred candidate, you:
  • Have a Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and Management or be willing to work towards and/or have demonstrated experience in diabetes management
  • Show proficiency in IT and diabetes software tools such as continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps
  • Have a high level of communication, both written and verbal
  • Show resilience as clients try to make significant changes to their lifestyle, celebrating their wins with them and motivating them as challenges arise
  • Must be a Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA
  • Must be eligible to drive within NSW and be willing to travel between locations
