Join Liverpool Hospital's specialist Palliative Care team and provide meaningful psychological support to patients with advanced and life-limiting illness, as well as their families and carers. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute your expertise within a specialist service while building your skills in palliative care within a supportive tertiary hospital environment.
- Provide meaningful psychological support to patients with advanced and life-limiting illness, their families and carers.
- Work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team, bringing psychological expertise to complex clinical care.
- Build specialist skills in palliative care within a major tertiary hospital, with strong professional support from the Liverpool Hospital Psychology Department
- Temporary part-time maternity leave backfill position, 20 hours per week until November 2027, with flexibility in work days.
Are You the Right Fit?
You are a skilled and compassionate Clinical Psychologist with strong assessment, formulation and evidence-based intervention skills. You are confident working with complex clinical presentations and are committed to delivering high-quality psychological care within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
- Confident working independently with complex presentations while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work sensitively with patients and families facing serious illness, adjustment, loss and end-of-life concerns.
- Experience in palliative care, oncology, health psychology or other complex medical settings will be highly regarded.
- Interested in contributing to a supportive specialist service with opportunities for supervision, professional development and service improvement.
- Committed to providing compassionate, patient-centred care in a specialist healthcare setting.
- Applicants currently enrolled in a combined Masters/PhD are eligible to apply if they have completed the equivalent of Masters degree requirements as part of the PhD pathway. Evidence of this is demonstrated by a completed PDEC-76 form and cover letter from the University confirming Masters degree requirements have been met.
- Applicants are eligible to apply if they have completed an accredited Masters degree and are awaiting their graduation ceremony. Written confirmation from the University is required.
- Successful applicants who have completed the Masters degree or Masters degree requirements and are awaiting full registration from the Psychology Board of Australia will be paid at Year 2 of the Psychologist Scale until they have full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, at which point they will commence on Year 1 of the Clinical Psychologist scale.
Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
- Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate Clinical Psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent. Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Please tell us about your experience providing psychological assessment and evidence-based intervention to patients living with advanced, life-limiting or complex medical condition, including how you have adapted your approach to address distress associated with serious illness and intensive medical treatment.
Please describe your experience working within a multidisciplinary health care team and how you have contributed psychological expertise to patient-centred care involving patients, families, carers and other health professionals
