About the role:
 

Our Clinical Nurse Educators are skilled, dedicated professionals committed to providing patient-centred, evidence-based nursing care every time. Working within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, our nurses are supported by a dedicated Education Team, Nurse Unit Managers, and a Nurse Manager. Together, we create a collaborative, open, and respectful environment that empowers staff and ensures the highest quality care for patients.

Where you’ll be working:

The John Hunter Hospital Operating Suite is one of the busiest level 6 trauma unit within the state of NSW. We are located in New Lambton Heights within the city of Newcastle, close to all conveniences and amenities Newcastle has to offer. Our department consists of 15 Operating Rooms and 1 vascular interventional suite that operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week. Our specialties include Orthopaedics, Orthopaedic Trauma, Multi Trauma, Obstetrics, Gynaecological, Gynaecological Oncology, ENT, Head and Neck, Plastics, Vascular, Endovascular, Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic, General Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Ophthalmic and Maxillofacial Surgery. The John Hunter Hospital Operating Suite services all high level surgical procedures within the area, including referrals from the north coast and rural regions.

The John Hunter Hospital is currently undergoing an expansion within its acute care service provision. This includes a significant expansion of the Operating Suite, which is due for completion 2026.

Requirements: 

Our successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and holds relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications (e.g. postgraduate qualification in perioperative nursing) or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate.
  • Eligibility to drive in NSW and willingness to travel.
