About the role:

This newly established Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) position is an exciting opportunity to shape and lead the future of orthopaedic care at Maitland Hospital. You’ll provide expert consultancy across planned and unplanned orthopaedic surgery, streamline the entire patient pathway from referral to recovery, and drive evidencebased, highquality care. This role offers the chance to influence service development, strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration, and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes in a growing and dynamic specialty.

As our newest CNC, you will:

Have a strong orthopaedic background with at least 3 years specialty experience

Be highly motivated and ready to step into a leadership role

Feel confident in providing expert clinical guidance across complex orthopaedic presentations

Hold skills in mentoring, educating, and supporting colleagues

Be comfortable working closely with Maitland Hospital executive and senior clinical leaders

Feel committed to evidence‑based practice, patient safety, and high‑quality care

Requirements: 

Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA who has at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in this specialty field. In addition, the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing qualifications in orthopaedics.
