About the Opportunity

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal children and families across the Central Coast. As an Aboriginal Health Worker (AHW) within the Paediatric Behavioural Triage Clinic (PBTC), you will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families to navigate health, education, and community services through culturally safe care coordination, advocacy, early intervention, and practical support.

As a key member of the PBTC multidisciplinary team, you will play an instrumental role in engaging Aboriginal families in a culturally respectful and responsive way, helping them access the right services at the right time. You will work alongside the PBTC Care Navigator, Paediatricians, Allied Health Clinicians, and community partners to support streamlined assessment processes, timely paediatric review, and equitable access to behavioural health services for children aged 5 to 12 years.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Help improve timely access to paediatric assessment, facilitating earlier intervention and support, and ensuring equitable access to behavioural outpatient services for Aboriginal children and their families

  • Provide care navigation, practical assistance and early intervention support to help families overcome barriers to care.

  • Work collaboratively with children, parents, carers, and families to identify strengths, goals, and support needs.

  • Build strong connections with Aboriginal communities, Elders, services and stakeholders to strengthen service access and engagement.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary care planning and provide cultural advice and support to non-Aboriginal staff to enhance culturally safe and appropriate service delivery.
