Where you'll be working
Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.
What you'll be doing
The CMO, with supervision and support from the D&A Service Medical Director, will provide medical assessment and access to treatment programs for drug and alcohol dependent people residing in the Illawarra (regional) and Shoalhaven (regional and rural) communities including marginalised drug users who may have co-morbid medical or psychiatric conditions.

Selection Criteria:
- MBBS or equivalent, current General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Five Years postgraduate experience or greater (CMO Grade 2) or less than five years postgraduate experience (CMO Grade 1). A minimum of four years post graduate experience is required and at least 1 year of this should be in the management of clients in the drug and alcohol setting.
- Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication skills, including interpersonal skills and moderate computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, think critically, problem solve and make sound clinical decisions.
- Demonstrated understanding of evidence based practice and contribution to best practice models of care/principles.
- Willingness and ability to participate in after-hours roster commitments
- Current unrestricted NSW Class C Drivers Licence and the willingness to work across multiple sites in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.
