About the Role

Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is one of the fastest growing Local Health Districts in New South Wales. Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring.
 
The SLHD Bereavement Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the Bereavement Counselling Service, which includes the delivery of specialist bereavement counselling, support and follow up for family members and carers of deceased patients living within the SLHD or where the death has occurred in SLHD. As a senior clinician, the position will offer consultation and education to multidisciplinary staff within the LHD as well as to the wider community, and be responsible for service planning, leadership, policy and service development. The primary purpose of the position is to coordinate a comprehensive bereavement counselling service for the SLHD Specialist Palliative Care Service.

Ideal Candidate 

  • Masters degree in clinical psychology and current AHPRA registration with an Area of Practice Endorsement (AoPE) or working towards same in clinical psychology, and eligibility for membership of a professional association OR Must hold as a minimum a bachelor's degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers OR Must hold as a minimum a bachelor's degree in counselling or a related field, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employee.
  • Experience as a Counselling Clinician in Bereavement, Palliative care or End of life contexts and specialist knowledge of bereavement, grief and loss processes.
  • Proven capacity to exercise independent professional judgement and demonstrated ability to work constructively as a member of an interdisciplinary team, which may include managing cases where principles, techniques and methods require expansion, adaptation or modification.
  • Holds a current NSW driver licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
