The Role

We are currently looking an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) to join our Primary Care services at the Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre (MRRC).

You will be required to undertake activities for which they have the legal authority and competence to perform (please refer to the Scope of Practice document). The person performing the delegated activity is accountable for his or her own actions and to the Registered Nurse (RN). Supervision means the direction and guidance given by a RN to an AIN. The supervision may be direct or indirect according to the nature of the work delegated to the AIN.

To be eligible to apply, you must have:

     A Certificate III in Health Services Assistance AND/OR are currently undertaking a nursing degree with one or more years of study completed.

     An unrestricted NSW Driver Licence and ability to travel across NSW as required.

 

Our Location

The Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre (MRRC) is a maximum-security correctional facility for male offenders and the primary reception centre in the Sydney Metropolitan Region. Those who arrive at the MRRC typically:

  • Come directly from court on remand
  • Stay while they attend court in the Sydney Metropolitan Area (before returning to their home centre)
  • Stay while they wait for a vacancy at a centre that matches their classification.

Most leave the centre within a few months, typically because they obtain bail (and release) or transfer to a centre that matches their classification.
