About Us

Located in South Bowenfels, the Lithgow Campus is considered as a comprehensive community health centre supporting approximately 20,000 people living in the town and surrounding areas. The services available in Lithgow hospital include Domiciliary care unit, Emergency department, Geriatric assessment unit, Obstetric services, Paediatric service, Drug and Alcohol unit.
An opportunity has become available for an Allied Health Assistant to join the Lithgow Hospital team in a Permanent Part time role.
The successful candidate will assist in treatment, therapeutic activities, exercises routines, or retraining programs, to provide assistance with moving, lifting, or mobilizing patients and to assist with patient positioning or manual handling. This position will see you deliver, demonstrate, and adjust equipment on wards or during home visits, assist in toilet & escort patients requiring assistance in the hospital or on home visits and inform relevant staff of changes in condition or deterioration of delegated patients and assist in documentation and record keeping responsibilities.

What you will bring to the role:
- AHA (Allied Health Assistance) Certificate Level 3 or 4; or a qualification deemed equivalent and relevant, e.g. Certificate in Aged Care, Assistant in Nursing, school aide or childcare worker
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to independently undertake tasks once delegated and operate with minimal direct supervision
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and organise a busy workload
- Computer literacy as demonstrated by the ability to use MS Office and email. Willing and able to learn new computer skills.
- Familiarity dealing / working with children
