Sydney Local Health District is seeking a highly motivated Registrar to join the Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Unit at RPAH

What you will be doing:
This position is open to a suitably qualified applicant who has had adequate experience working in a tertiary referring hospital for Respiratory and Sleep Medicine.

The clinical duties of the position include working in outpatient clinics including general respiratory, tuberculosis, asthma, cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary vascular disease, sleep medicine and respiratory failure, as well inpatient care, under the supervision of on-call consultants and provisional fellows.  As part of the 1 in 5 weekends on call requirements, there will be Respiratory failure on call weekdays after hours and weekends.

RPA Respiratory and Sleep Medicine
The Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Unit at RPA is one of the busiest medical units with an inpatient load of 20-40 (seasonal variation), and offers a full range of pulmonary function tests including complex lung mechanics, respiratory muscle tests and cardiopulmonary exercise studies. The department also provides a comprehensive pulmonary intervention service, including bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, cryobiopsy, as well as pleural US and chest drain insertion. 

Regular educational meetings are held with opportunities for trainees to present. Meetings include respiratory grand rounds, respiratory physiology, journal club, sleep meeting, MDTs in lung cancer, interstitial lung disease, and pulmonary hypertension as well as a sleep reporting meeting.

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
