An exciting opportunity exists for a reliable and experienced Administration Supervisor interested in working as part of a small administrative team, providing a range of administrative and clerical support services to enable the Cancer Services Oncology Unit of The Sutherland Hospital to achieve its objectives in a timely, reliable and efficient manner.

Where you'll be working

The role is Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4.00pm working as part of a larger multidisciplinary team to support our patients. You will be leading a small administrative team to assist with coordination and efficiency within the Bangawarra Cancer Services unit across both inpatient and Outpatient services.

The Bangawarra Cancer Care Service provides coordinated outpatient care to patients with cancer and blood disorders. The Sutherland Hospital promotes best practice in cancer treatment and use the best available evidence to provide care. 

We provide treatment to patients living in the community through our Oncology Day Clinic. Our team is made up of Medical Oncologists, Haematologists, Radiation Oncologists, Palliative Care Specialists, Nurse Practitioner, Cancer Care Coordinator, Breast Care Nurse, Registered Nurses, Social Worker, Clinical Psychologist, Psychiatry and Dietician. Our medical teams review all patients in our outpatient clinics, also located within the Oncology Day Clinic. We work collaboratively with St George Hospital and Calvary Hospital, providing treatment in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care.

The role will be to provide day-to-day supervision of administrative staff and coordinate administrative systems and procedures to enable Bangawarra Cancer Services to achieve their objectives in a timely, reliable and efficient manner 

The purpose of the Administration Supervisor is to provide efficient and effective administration and leadership support to Bangawarra Cancer Services at The Sutherland Hospital.  The role will possess knowledge around outpatient billing, information technology and clinical information management. The supervisor will also effectively manage and oversee co-ordination of clinic bookings, documentation, data entry, report writing and filing. They assist with facilitation of systems and processes across the department and supervision of administration staff with an emphasis on exceptional customer service providing a timely and efficient service to all key stakeholders.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

Selection Criteria:
1. Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or management role
2. Ability to perform a wide range of administrative tasks while managing competing work priorities and work flow within allocated resources
3. Ability to determine priorities for others, allocate tasks, coach and monitor work performance of staff to achieve work objectives
4. Demonstrated initiative and the ability to bring a creative approach to problem solving
5. Ability to work independently and with demonstrated capacity for effective teamwork
6. High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
7. Demonstrated ability to undertake, manage and monitor outpatient billing procedures within the department
8. Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office packages, computer and data entry skills, and experience using systems or databases in a healthcare setting
