Join Hunter New England Health's Aboriginal Family Wellbeing and Violence Prevention Program, where you'll work alongside Aboriginal children, individuals and families to support healing, strengthen wellbeing and help create safer futures.
Working in partnership with Aboriginal communities, Elders and local services, you'll provide culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based support to people impacted by violence, abuse and neglect. Where You'll Be Working
Based at Moree Community Health Service, you'll become part of the Hunter New England Violence, Abuse and Neglect (VAN) Service, working closely with the Aboriginal Health Unit, Sexual Assault Counsellors, Social Workers and multidisciplinary health professionals.

About the Role
No two days are the same.
One day you may be supporting a family experiencing crisis, developing safety plans and connecting them with essential services. The next, you could be attending community events, working alongside local organisations, providing advocacy, or delivering health promotion and education within the community.
In this role you will:
- Build trusted relationships with Aboriginal children, individuals, families and communities.
- Provide culturally safe, trauma-informed crisis support and case coordination.
- Advocate for families and connect them with health, housing, child protection and community services.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and community partners.
- Deliver community education, prevention and early intervention initiatives.
- Provide cultural consultation to support safe and responsive care across the service.
This is an autonomous role where you'll have the opportunity to work independently while always being backed by a close-knit, highly supportive team.
About You
You're someone who leads with compassion, integrity and respect.
You understand the importance of listening first, building trust and working alongside Aboriginal families to achieve meaningful outcomes. You're comfortable working in a dynamic environment, balancing crisis response with long-term relationship building and community engagement.
You'll bring:

- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively across health, community and government services.
- Strong organisational skills and the confidence to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A passion for empowering Aboriginal families and creating positive community outcomes.
Experience working with Aboriginal communities or within health, community or human services is highly regarded, but equally important is your willingness to learn, your respect for Aboriginal culture and your commitment to making a difference.
Requirements:
- Willingness to complete with support, the Education Centre Against Violence qualification pathway - Graduate Certificate in Human and Community Services (Interpersonal Trauma).
- Current drivers licence and ability to undertake travel as required
