About the Role
This position will be working across Drug Health Services sites including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, The Canterbury Hospital, and Concord Hospital.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of patient centred; evidence informed nursing care that promotes identified health outcomes. The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
This casual Registered Nurse role provides clinical care across Drug Health Services, including Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP) at RPA and Canterbury, and the Inpatient Withdrawal and Stabilisation Unit at Concord Repatriation General Hospital (CRGH). Day-to-day responsibilities include undertaking clinical assessments, administering medications (including opioid pharmacotherapy), monitoring and managing withdrawal symptoms, and responding to clinical risk and deterioration. The role involves coordinating care and referrals, documenting in the eMR, and working closely within a multidisciplinary team to support safe, effective treatment planning.
In the OTP setting, this includes supervised dosing, client monitoring, and managing presentations related to substance use and comorbidities. In the inpatient unit, responsibilities include supporting patients through withdrawal and stabilisation, ongoing assessment, and escalation of care where required. The role requires the ability to work across varied clinical environments, adapt to changing priorities, and deliver care that is safe, respectful, and responsive to the needs of individuals accessing AOD services.

Ideal Candidate
- Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated understanding of evidence informed practice and critical thinking.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team.
- Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
