About the role

The anaesthetic nurse plays a crucial role in the perioperative team, working alongside anaesthetists to ensure patient safety and comfort before, during, and after surgery

• Perioperative responsibilities: patient preparation, equipment checks, medication preparation and patient support.

• Intraoperative responsibilities: assisting the anaesthetist, patient monitoring and emergency management.

• Postoperative responsibilities: handover to recovery team, monitoring recovery and pain management.

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary health care team to achieve optimal health outcomes.

• Take a leadership role in coordinating nursing and health care, ensuring independent and interdependent practice.

• Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for their own actions and effectively delegate care to enrolled nurses and health care workers.

About you

• Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency.

• Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads within a complex environment.

• Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a registered nurse.

• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work within the interdisciplinary team.
