Liverpool Hospital is recruiting for a Provisional Fellow to complement and enhance the current Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department.

Where You'll Be Working

Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

 

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.



What you'll be doing
To work in the role of Provisional Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology as part of a multi-disciplinary team based at Liverpool Hospital to provide high quality, safe and effective care to women presenting to the department for the management of obstetric and gynaecological conditions.

To develop advanced skills in managing the care of complex pregnancies as part of an Obstetric Medicine multi-disciplinary team under the supervision of Obstetric and Obstetric Physician Consultants. 

To prepare for acceptance into the training programme for a certificate in maternal-fetal medicine.

To work in conjunction with the other provisional fellows in the development of junior doctor rosters, credentialing of junior medical officers, and in the implementation of their training, education, and research opportunities, in consultation with and under the supervision of the Head of Department.


  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Successful completion of the examination process for RANZCOG and currently having completed core training.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work in a complex clinical environment, excellent clinical skills and judgment together with teamwork, time management and problem solving skills in the clinical settings and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Experience with the administrative requirements and day to day running of a tertiary Women's Health Service and its interaction with networked units.
  5. Experience and willingness to teach junior medical staff/medical students and midwives, and a commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management. Preparedness and ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
  6. Prepared to participate in after hours and on-call work as required.
  7. Ability to move between services and geographical locations to deliver patient care.
  8. Knowledge of relevant NSW Health policy.
