You’ll be part of the Cardiothoracic Stepdown and General Surgery Ward at Westmead Hospital, one of Australia’s largest and most advanced tertiary referral and teaching hospitals within the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD).

Our ward provides specialised post-operative care for cardiothoracic surgical patients transitioning from intensive care, as well as comprehensive care for general surgical patients with a wide range of acute and elective conditions. The team works in close collaboration with surgical, anaesthetic, intensive care, and allied health services to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.

What you'll be doing

 

We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurses to join our dynamic team in the Cardiothoracic Stepdown and General Surgery Ward which also includes sub- specialty such as ENT, plastic and reconstructive, head and neck, oral maxillary facial surgery and ophthalmology. 

Previous surgical experience is highly regarded but not essential, as ongoing education and training will be provided.

Joining our team you will be providing individualised, excellent patient care within a multidisciplinary health service, aiming to maximise health outcomes and achieve identified goals for each patient.

You will also:

  • Deliver personalised, high-quality care.

  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Support patient-centred treatment plans.

  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress.

  • Contribute to achieving healthcare goals.

Essential Criteria:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency. (NSW Registered Nurse – Division 1) and appropriate postgraduate experience.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated recent nursing experience relevant to the position and commitment to quality improvement, practice development and evidence-based practice

  2. Demonstrated application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to patient care

  3. Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, delegate, and negotiate with others to deliver quality nursing care

  4. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal means,; and sound interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
