What you'll be doing 


The McGrath Upper GI Cancer Care Nurse (MCCN) at Westmead Hospital provides expert care, leadership, and support for patients with Upper GI cancer.

 

  • Leads and enhances specialist Upper GI cancer services and patient care.
  • Coordinates care, liaising with oncology, surgery, and allied health teams.
  • Provides expert clinical advice and support to patients, families, and staff.
  • Develops and delivers education programs to ensure best practice.
  • Contributes to service planning, quality improvement, and policy updates.

Essential Criteria:

 

  • Registration: Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Qualification: Holds approved postgraduate qualifications relevant to the specialty of Upper GI Cancer Care or qualifications deemed appropriate by WSLHD

 

Selection Criteria:

 

  1. Registered Nurse with at least five years post registration experience with at least three years' experience in relevant field.
  2. Demonstrated expertise in assessment, diagnosis/ formulation/ management of patients with cancer.
  3. Proven clinical leadership capabilities with the ability to provide consultancy advice, education and support to individuals, their families, nursing staff and other health professionals.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and an ability to identify and improve opportunities to enhance continuity of care between Upper GI cancer and other health care services.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a multidisciplinary team with high level time management, problem solving, analytical and organisational skills
  6. Demonstrated competency in written and verbal communication, report writing and research skills.
