Where you'll be working
Located at Redbank House on the Westmead Hospital campus, the Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) is a newly established specialist inpatient service supporting parents and infants during the critical perinatal period.
The MBU provides 24/7 care for parents experiencing significant mental health challenges, enabling parents and babies to be admitted together to promote secure attachment and minimise separation.
You will be part of a service that is:
Purpose-built with eight inpatient beds in a calm, therapeutic environment
Focused on holistic, parent and infant-centred care

Committed to evidence-based, trauma-informed practice
Embedded within Western Sydney Local Health District’s strong clinical network
What you'll be doing
As a Child and Family Health Nurse, you will practice at an advanced level, working within a primary healthcare framework to support families with infants and young children aged 0–5 years.
In this role, you will:
Deliver comprehensive child, parent and family assessments using evidence-based tools
Support infant development, parent mental health and secure attachment
Build parental confidence through education, guidance and strengths-based interventions
Coordinate care and link families with community and government services post-discharge
Contribute to quality improvement and collaborative multidisciplinary care planning

Essential Requirements:
Registration: Current enrolment with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency Registered Nurse Division 1.
Selection Criteria:
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia.
Postgraduate qualification relevant to performing the role of a Child and Family Health Nurse, or currently enrolled in a tertiary course with completion date within 12 months of employment.
Evidence of post registration experience working with families and young children; including those from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Understanding of, and commitment to, evidence-based practice.
Demonstrated experience in assessment of the physical, social and emotional needs of children, and their families.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles of population health and primary health care.
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to utilise information technology systems within a variety of applications and a commitment to undertaking training in electronic health record systems.
Demonstrate effective verbal, written communication and negotiation skills.
