About the Opportunity
Campbelltown Hospital is a busy Level 5 maternity service, delivering close to 4,000 babies each year. We are currently seeking midwives to join our core Birth Unit team.
We proudly support NBAC and water births, and consistently achieve excellent, benchmarked outcomes for birth and mode of delivery.
Midwives joining the team will be supported to work towards accreditation in:
- Perineal suturing
- Speculum examination
- Cooks catheter insertion
The Birth Unit is backed by a strong leadership and education team, including a Clinical Midwifery Consultant (CMC), Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE), Midwifery Unit Manager (MUM), and Nursing Manager (NM). The antenatal ward, located nearby, manages most antenatal assessments.
Our Birth Unit team works closely with:
- Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) teams
- TEAM midwifery midwives
- Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Service (AMIHS) midwives
What You'll Be Doing
The midwife is a responsible and accountable professional who works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, to conduct births on the midwife's own responsibility and to provide care for the newborn and the infant.
This position may entail rotating through various clinical areas such as, Birthing Unit, Post/Antenatal Ward, Special Care Nursery and Antenatal Clinic.
