The Sutherland Hospital is now recruiting to the Medical Imaging Department.

Where you'll be working:

The Medical Imaging (MI) Department performs a comprehensive range of examinations including x-rays, ultrasound, CT, MRI and interventional procedures. A multidisciplinary team-composing of nursing staff, radiographers, allied health assistance, administration and radiologist works collaboratively to ensure optimal patient care throughout their journey in the Department.

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients of The Sutherland Hospital & Community Health Services consistent with SESLHD and The Sutherland Hospital & Community Health Services policies, procedures and standards. 

Registered Nurse within the Department is responsible in providing patient care with their role expanding significantly in recent years. Nursing in MI involves understanding of radiation safety, provide care to patients undergoing interventional procedures. This includes patient assessment, monitoring, sedation, ALS trained and post procedure care and ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Management of contrast administration and its associated side effect is essential for MI nurses. Appropriate training is provided to ensure patient safety and high-quality care. MI nurses are expected to be familiar with policies related to patient transfer and clinical handover.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
  2. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  3. Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
  5. Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
  6. Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse in applying these principles.
  7. Demonstrated recent post registration experience in a Medical Imaging setting.
