An exciting opportunity exists for an Occupational Therapist experienced in Mental Health, rehabilitation of mental health consumers, and provision of care on individualised journeys to recovery. If this sounds like you, come and join our team and work as part of the Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service, Early Psychosis Programme (EPP). This is a permanent full-time position.

The Early Psychosis Programme is a multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health Team providing specialist treatment to young people (14-25yrs) who are at risk of, or are experiencing psychosis. The Rehabilitation Clinician – Occupational Therapist will plan, coordinate and deliver high quality consumer focused, individually tailored, clinical rehabilitation services to support the recovery process for to young people experiencing psychosis and their families, consistent with South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards, and with early intervention principles. There will be a particular focus on Vocational, Education, Training and Employment skills training interventions.

Selection Criteria: 

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy and current registration with AHPRA
  2. Demonstrated competency in mental health rehabilitation with an ability to plan, implement and evaluate individual and group clinical rehabilitation interventions. , e.g. skills assessment and training, vocational interventions, health promotion and education, motivational interviewing and psychosocial strategies.
  3. Experience working with young people (14-25 years) with mental health concerns, and knowledge of the mental health needs of young consumers with early psychosis and their families.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to consumer participation, and a strengths based and recovery focused approach to service provision.
  5. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within the multi-disciplinary team and with a diverse range of stakeholders including consumers, families and service providers.
  6. Ability to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters, commensurate with years of experience
  7. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, evidence based practice and ongoing clinical and professional learning.
  8. Current, unrestricted NSW Driver’s licence.
