About the opportunity

A Temporary Full Time 18 week vacancy exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Administrative Officer in NSW Health Pathology, Anatomical Pathology Department at Liverpool Hospital.  The Department provides a full Anatomical Pathology service to several hospitals within the South West Sydney Local Health District including Liverpool, Fairfield, Campbelltown, Bankstown, Camden and Bowral Hospitals, as well as private pathology practices and tertiary research facilities. This position is key to the provision of our Anatomical Pathology service and as such will be required to work within a rotating roster with other administrative staff.

Our large, very busy and multicultural Department is located within the Anatomical Pathology Department at the Liverpool Hospital Campus.

What you'll be doing
You will be asked to provide an effective full range of administrative support services, including filing and records management, data input and management, mail receipt and sorting, telephone enquiries, maintenance of registers, photocopying, compilation of reports to support the smooth running of the service, compilation of Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meeting information and typing of on line dictated Anatomical Pathology Macroscopic and Microscopic Reports.
If successful for an interview, you will be asked to type a short medical report dictation for assessment as part of the interview.

  1. Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise own work, display time management skills taking into account the impact on others to achieve results to meet deadlines.
  2. Ability to compile MDT meeting information for the Anatomical Pathology Department in an accurate and timely fashion
  3. Ability to quickly and accurately type dictated Anatomical Pathology Macroscopic and Microscopic Reports.
  4. Possess and understanding of medical terminology in relation to pathology, or a willingness/aptitude to learn
  5. Demonstrated ability to use computer hardware, software applications and electronic administration systems and Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel to complete requirements of the role.
  6. A demonstrated ability to perform a wide range of administrative tasks in a high volume work environment under general instruction requiring minimal supervision.
  7. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to confidently and courteously deal with a variety of people.
